Emergence of Consciousness
Emergence of Consciousness
, Oil on Canvas, 12 x 12
Expressionist, Jungian spontaneous process of developing what is visualized within dream or pareidolia, onto the surface of the empty, and then evolving image. This particular image is composed of primarily abstractive markings, suggestive of landscape and figures, human and animal within chaos. The dominance of a rounded skull form (upper left third of composition) represents the artist's emerging self-awareness and formation into a whole. Another way of looking at the concept is to consider the maturation of the adult from chaos into a more distanced observing and comprehension of the person's experiential circumstantial complexity. This is an attempt to capture that evolving comprehension of the individual within a mass, who begins to grasp the complexity of his own, as well as witness and interact with other's after-effects.
